While this heater at only 300 watts should not be considered a room heater, it is effective at taking the chill off a small area within a room such as at a desk. Of course if the heat output is sufficient to keep you comfortable at its low output, it will save you considerably because its only consuming 20% of the energy that many space heaters consume. Because it is radiant heat it is quite directional but if directed where it is needed, many find radiant heat more satisfying than other types of heat, particularly compared to the cheap fan ceramic heaters; since there is no fan it operates silently. Safety features include tip-over shut off and thermal cut-off devices.
